What does the theme mean?

The theme has two meanings. First, as UNIV instructors, we 'nurture' new students into the university community. As we meet with them throughout the semester, we help them to 'develop' and 'grow' into successful university students who can 'sustain' themselves and continue to 'bloom' into responsible citizens and students. It is our job, as instructors to 'plant the seeds' of knowledge and resources through our role as UNIV instructors. Also, the University of Maryland recently signed the University President's Climate Committment. The Orientation Office believes in providing sustainable programming when possible and this theme and the participant gifts reflect that committment.
