We look forward to welcoming you as our newest Terps! The orientation staff will help ease your transition while they provide you with the information and resources you need to succeed.

The New Terps website is your place to get a lot of the information you need to make successful transition to college at the University of Maryland. This site also outlines all steps you must take before attending Orientation.

Admissions-

By now, you should have confirmed your enrollment at the University. If you have not done so, please visit the Admissions Website to do so. If you have already confirmed your admission, you can proceed with the following steps.

Orientation-

BEFORE ORIENTATION

Step 1. Create your University E-mail/Directory ID. This will allow you to login to all University of Maryland websites and use your university e-mail account.

Step 2. Register for an Orientation date. Click here to register for an orientation date.

Step 3. Take the On-line Math Placement Exam. Click here to access the exam. NOTICE: You should receive an email telling you to complete the math placement exam. Please wait 24 to 48 hours after you have created your Directory ID to take the Math Placement Exam online. Please visit the Math Placement Exam information page for practice materials and other important information regarding the exam. The Math Placement Exam MUST be taken prior to attending Orientation.

After you have completed these steps, you will be ready to attend your Orientation. Remember that Orientation Check-in begins at 8:30am at Cole Field House. You may check into Queen Anne's Hall at 7:30am. Pleae click here for a list of things to bring. Please park in Lot 1 only. Please be sure to revisti this site after you return home to complete the following steps.

BEFORE THE FALL SEMESTER

Step 4. Complete our New Student Survey. This is an annual questionnaire that is administered to entering first year students at UM to help us better serve student needs. The survey assesses the personal and academic background, educational and work-related goals, interests and campus service needs, and expectations about your college experience. Please check back when you return home from Orientation to take the survey!

Step 5. Complete your Faith and Religious Preference Form (optional)This information is confidential and will only be used (if you wish to provide the requested information) to inform you of programing opportunities and consultation services related to your selected preference.

Step 6. Complete Alcohol EDU. Click here to complete AlcoholEDU. Each student MUST complete AlcoholEDU prior to the beginning of the fall semester. Details will be sent via mail and to your e-mail over the summer. Please visit the AlcoholEDU website for details about the program.

Housing-

Don't forget to sign up for housing for the Fall semester. Apply as early as possible.

If you are not living on campus, visit the Office of Off-Campus Housing for assistance.

Financial Aid-

Apply for financial aid as early as possible.

Make sure your turn in your FAFSA and other important documents.

Transportation-

To find out if you are eligible for a parking permit, visit the Department of Transportation Services website.

Health Center-

Make sure you complete your health and immunization forms. This form will be collected at your Orientation.

Sporting Events Tickets-

Don't miss out on the action. Sign up to receive your event tickets now!

Stamp Student Union-

The approximately 20,000 people who visit the Stamp daily find a wonderful center which greatly enriches the university community--culturally, academically and socially. If you are looking for a community in which to get involved, an opportunity to volunteer, a place to grab a bite to eat, an opportunity to dialog with others, a home to kick back and watch a movie, play video games or go bowling; visit the Stamp. And if you are interested in taking classes in leadership or the arts, want a quiet retreat to study, need a job or want a corner to hide from the chaos; visit the Stamp. You will find us located in the center of campus or by going to our website. We are here to transform and enrich your Maryland experience. We look forward to seeing you soon.
