We are excited that you are thinking about joining the University of Maryland family. The University of Maryland is one of the nation's finest universities, with outstanding academic programs, award-winning faculty and enthusiatic and talented students. You’ll need to find your way among the many other undergraduate and graduate students taking classes with you and we are here to tell you how. Our staff in the Orientation Office will help you get your bearings and provide you with the information and resources you need to be successful. This booklet will help get ready for Orientation and guide you through your transition.
There is no doubt that the university you are coming from, whether 2-year, 4-year, community college, public, private or technical, is different than the University of Maryland. We understand the needs of transfer students and will do our best to accommodate those needs. We know that those coming from a four-year institution have already been through an orientation and that those coming from a two-year institution may already have a two-year degree. We think we have struck a delicate balance in our program to provide you with the information you need and want to be successful. No matter what the differences are between your previous institution and the University of Maryland, we are here to assist you through your transition and beyond.
Terp Transfers is a resource area dedicated to serving UMD's prospective, incoming, and currently enrolled transfer students.

It will take you through a step-by-step process which will help ease you through your transition to the University. More information for prospective students and currently enrolled students is accessible through the links at the top of this page.
